The Youth Group is a very active and busy part of Pine Valley Baptist Church for youths from seventh grade to seniors in high school. On Sundays, the boys and girls have separate Sunday School classes where they are taught Biblical truths from God’s Word. In the youth group, there is truly an environment of fellowship that is hard to find in modern churches. Many of the teens get involved in different ministries throughout the church, doing God’s work.
There are services on Sunday and Wednesday that the teens can see each other and fellowship with each other, but there is more to the youth group than that. It even seems like not even a week goes by without some sort of youth activity. Every season of the year has different activities, all with a Christ-centered atmosphere. Although we do have a lot of fun during activities, there is always Biblical teaching geared towards the spiritual growth of the young people. The busiest time for the youth group is the summer, with the highlight being the week-long youth camp which is always a blessing for the teens. Old Path's Camp is wonderful opportunity for young men and ladies to experience the joy of Christian growth with other local Bible-believing ministries in the West-Atlanta area.
Another highlight for many of the teens is accountability. This is separate for boys and girls, and they keep each other accountable in their daily lives when it comes to devotions and other things they might be dealing with. Proverbs 27:17 says that, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” That is what accountability is. The young people sharpen each other into tools that the Lord can use.
While the youth group is a lot of fun for the young people of Pine Valley Baptist Church, the main focus is on Christ with the goal of strengthening teens in their Biblical foundation and Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of our faith.
